The Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Associate Personal Injury Litigation Attorney to handle an active litigation caseload. The ideal candidate will be experienced, self-driven, and ready to take on responsibilities from case initiation through trial.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in all phases of personal injury litigation
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, and discovery
- Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts
- Conduct mediations, pre-trial hearings, and court appearances
- Try cases to jurors in Ohio courts
- Responsible for some pre-litigation files
- Interview clients and witnesses, gather evidence, and develop case strategies
- Negotiate settlements with opposing parties and insurance companies
- Work closely with paralegals, investigators, and support staff
- Maintain meticulous case records and documentation
- Stay updated on legal developments affecting personal injury practice
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing to practice in Ohio
- Minimum 1 year of experience in personal injury litigation
- Minimum 2-5 years of plaintiff or defense personal injury practice
- Strong grasp of case management, pleadings, discovery, and trial prep
- Excellent research, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage caseload independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling motor vehicle accident cases, including truck accidents
- Trial experience (at least one jury trial preferred)
- Active membership in the Ohio State Bar Association, Ohio Association for Justice, or American Association for Justice
- Civil trial advocacy certification is a plus
