Stelting & Gross, LLC (S&G) is seeking a legal assistant/paralegal for our Jackson office. S&G handles various civil matters, including construction, land use, contract law, and complex civil disputes.

Job duties include various aspects of business administration, like file organization, scheduling, answering phones, performing potential client intakes, and assisting clients and attorneys with all aspects of civil litigation.

The position is not purely administrative; legal assistants and paralegals will gain hands-on legal experience and mentorship from seasoned litigators, including with drafting legal documents, coordinating e-discovery, legal research, preparing for and attending trial and court hearings, and learning and implementing the Wyoming Rules of Civil Procedure and other Wyoming Statutes.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are indispensable in this role. Candidates must be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and promptly with clients, attorneys, court staff, process servers, and other third-party vendors. Candidates with a background in the humanities—English, literature, philosophy, journalism, political science, copywriting, communications, technical writing, and so on—are strongly encouraged to apply.

The right candidate will have excellent attention to detail, the ability to logically problem solve, a solid grasp on grammar rules and spelling, meticulous digital organization skills, a strong vocabulary, the ability to maintain strict confidentiality, confidence, ambition, and a can-do attitude. Candidates should also be capable of quickly mastering the software used to execute job functions, such as Goldfynch or other e-discovery platforms, Clio, File&ServExpress, Dropbox, Stamps.com, and the Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with accounts payable/receivable, bookkeeping, invoicing, Quickbooks, and billing is a plus.

S&G is a supportive learning environment for experienced paralegals and brand-new legal assistants alike. After three months of employment at S&G, the firm will pay for a CLS by Barbri paralegal course and all textbooks so that you may obtain a paralegal certificate from an accredited university. Applicants who already have paralegal certificates may be eligible for continuing education stipends to pursue specialized knowledge in e-discovery, litigation procedure, firm administration, and ethics.

Dependability and the desire to work in person are essential to the position. Schedule flexibility is possible for the right candidate. Pay is commensurate with experience and ranges between $25 to $40 per hour. Monthly stipends may be offered to cover housing costs or health insurance premiums. Employees are eligible for retirement contribution matching and ten (10) days of PTO after three months of gainful employment with S&G. This position is based in Jackson, Wyoming. Applicants must live in Jackson, have housing in Jackson, or live within a reasonable distance for daily commute.
