James Bates Brannan Groover LLP, a leading law firm with offices in Macon, Atlanta, and Athens, Georgia, seeks a paralegal to join our Commercial Litigation Group in Macon. The Commercial Litigation Group has substantial experience in a wide variety of complex litigation matters, including, but not limited to, business torts, construction disputes, contract disputes, civil RICO, general commercial and business disputes, and healthcare disputes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to become an integral part of our team to deliver excellence to our clients. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is not afraid to ask questions or offer solutions to issues they identify to help make the practice group even better.

Responsibilities:

Drafting, proofreading, and editing legal correspondence and memos
Reviewing and analyzing discovery requests and assisting attorneys with discovery responses
Coordinating document reviews with legal team, clients, and vendors
Assisting with document reviews for responsiveness, case issues, and privilege responses to discovery requests and identifying privileged documents, documents for redaction, and case issues in context
Preparing witness files and deposition preparation files
Preparing court filings and service to counsel
Communicating with attorneys, court officials, and clients
Calendaring and ensuring that attorneys stay apprised of upcoming deadlines
Scheduling meetings, phone and video conferences, depositions, and mediations
Maintaining files
E-filing
Keeping accurate time records

Requirements:

At least 3 years of experience as a paralegal
Ability to problem solve
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure
Must possess a willingness to learn and exhibit flexibility in a fast-paced environment
Must have the ability to work as part of a team and independently
Familiarity with state and federal court rules, procedures, and filing requirements/e-filing
Approximately 3-5 years of defense litigation experience in a medium to large-sized law firm (preferred)
